Keever Finishes Third at J.T. Poston Invitational
Clemson, SC—Clemson golfer Calahan Keever finished third at the J.T. Poston Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Keever, who was playing in his first tournament for the Tigers, was one of three Clemson golfer participating as an individual in the tournament held at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Sapphire, NC.
Keever had a 54-hole score of 207 on the par 71 course that measures 7007 yards. The former Eastside High School star and Greenville, SC native had rounds of 71 and 67 on Monday and had a two-under-par 69 on Tuesday. He improved eight positions with his 69 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third with Luke Koenig of Georgia Southern and Juan Callejo of Elon. Remi Chartier of East Tennessee State won the tournament with a 199 total.
Keever had 15 birdies for his 54 holes, fourth in the field of 100 golfers from around the southeast. He played the par five holes at 4.44 for the tournament and the par four holes at 3.94.
Keever came to Clemson in August as a transfer from Anderson University in Anderson, SC. He was a first-team Division II All-American last year when he had a 70.50 stroke average for 30 rounds.
Austin Scott and Justin Burrough were two other Clemson golfers in the field. Scott finished in 78th place with a 222 score after rounds of 73-75-74, while Burrough also finished 78th with a 222 total after rounds of 68-71-83.
The Clemson golf team returns to action October 2-4 at The Blessings Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
